- ➤ City leaders celebrated Concord’s Arbor Day by planting oak trees at the renovated Dorton Park in autumn as Mayor Bill Dusch and City Manager Lloyd Payne planted Southern Live Oak and Nuttall Oak. The event showed the City’s strong commitment to a healthy tree canopy — earning a sixth consecutive Tree City USA designation and a Growth Award for urban forest care. City of Concord

- ➤ Cabarrus Veterans Services is partnering with the Boys & Girls Club Keystone Club and the City of Concord to host an Annual Veterans Day Celebration on Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. at the Boys & Girls Club facility on Spring St.—Cabarrus County government offices will be closed on Nov. 11 while parks remain open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Cabarrus County Government
