COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Local groups in Cabarrus are hosting events from late August through mid-September that include hot dog sales, bridge games, farmers markets and Bible studies. Today the Concord Duplicate Bridge Club holds games at noon at Hartsell Recreation Center — and hot dogs plus other meals are on sale at McGill Baptist Church from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Independent Tribune

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Cabarrus County Government offices, libraries, and active living centers will close Monday, Sept. 1 for Labor Day while county parks remain open on regular schedules — the county landfill will operate Saturday, Aug. 30 and hazardous waste service runs Wednesday, Sept. 3. The Cabarrus County Fair & Rodeo will kick off Sept. 5 at the Cabarrus Arena and Events Center with rodeo nights on Sept. 5—6 and 12—13.  Cabarrus County Government
