COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Cabarrus County Fair has started online ticket sales so visitors can skip long lines and buy tickets for admission, rodeo, and rides. The fair will run Sept. 5—13 at Cabarrus Arena and Events Center—offering live rodeo nights and new attractions like a lumberjack show.  Cabarrus County Government

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City of Concord has faced criticism over a D.R. Horton proposal to build over 2,000 homes and commercial space at Concord Farms on George Liles Parkway, as city officials gave the project a zero on sewer allocation due to zoning issues—leaving many questions unanswered. Downtown wi-fi tests showed mixed results, Wells Fargo will close its 50 Union St. branch by Sept. 10, and Earthfare in the Concord Mills area will close later this month while a former reporter launches a new local venture.  Independent Tribune
