- ➤ Byron Haigler was named Cabarrus County’s new Active Living and Parks Director on July 22 during Park and Recreation Month, replacing longtime leader Londa Strong. He will use his personal experiences—from a bear attack to battling cancer—to expand services at the county’s five parks and three active living centers that serve over two million people annually—efforts that uphold a legacy of dedicated public service.
