COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Cabarrus County hosts a wide range of events this week and into early July across local venues. Highlights include today's Bible study at Calvary Lutheran Church at the Sportscenter in Concord at 11:30 a.m. and scheduled farmers markets, bridge club games, hot dog sales plus community gatherings in Concord, Kannapolis, Mount Pleasant and Hickory.  Independent Tribune

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Cabarrus County Commissioners adopted the Fiscal Year 2025-26 budget on June 16 that keeps the tax rate at 57.6 cents per $100 and takes effect on July 1. The changes raised funding for local schools, added public safety vehicles and restored Economic Development Corporation funding — funds that were cut from an animal shelter design and reduced Community Invest Fund contributions.  Cabarrus County Government
