  • Mount Pleasant Food Ministry, founded in 2005, is marking 20 years of helping families in need in Cabarrus County. The volunteer-run group gathers food donations + funds from local partners to support about 110 families each month.  Independent Tribune

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Cabarrus County Manager Sean Newton presented the Fiscal Year 2025-26 Recommended Budget at the Board meeting on May 19 — the plan keeps the tax rate at 57.6 cents per $100 of assessed value and boosts the General Fund to $399 million to support public safety, education, and essential county services. The budget runs from July 1 through June 30 and includes planned capital investments, with a public hearing on June 2 and a vote on June 16 — officials emphasized strong financial stewardship to close a projected $6 million deficit.  Cabarrus County Government
