➤ Jeff Jones, a Concord attorney with 34 years of practice, was sworn in Tuesday to fill the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners seat vacated by Chris Measmer after his appointment to the North Carolina Senate — Jones said he plans to bring unity, transparency and a fresh direction to the county. He joins the board as budget talks ramp up, with County Manager Sean Newton set to present the FY26 Recommended Budget on May 19. Cabarrus County Government
➤ The Clerk of Cabarrus County Superior Court appointed Concord attorney Jeff Jones to fill the vacant Cabarrus County Commission seat. He now holds the position and will help shape local government decisions. Independent Tribune
