  • A Pinwheel Ceremony is planned in Cabarrus during April to raise awareness about child abuse and prevention efforts — the event will honor those affected and encourage local support.  Independent Tribune

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • N.C. Sen. Chris Measmer was sworn in on April 15 to represent District 34 after Sen. Paul Newton resigned in March—his old seat on the Cabarrus County Commission remains in limbo as a temporary restraining order stops the approved replacement from taking office. County commissioners held a meeting on April 10 and approved a new commissioner until the court review ends on April 25.  Independent Tribune
