BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ A new Dive Bar will soon open in Concord as the sixth location in North Carolina. The bar will offer arcade games, pool, drink specials and special events based on the company’s website. Independent Tribune
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Cabarrus County Commissioners voted 3 to 0 in an 11-minute meeting on Thursday morning at the Cabarrus Governmental Center in Concord to replace Chairman Chris Measmer with Lamarie Austin-Stripling, who will serve after Measmer resigns to join the State Senate (nearly 40 candidates applied for the post). The change was confirmed following a review of legal issues by the county attorney. Independent Tribune
- ➤ Cabarrus citizens filed a lawsuit on Monday against the county and its commissioners to stop Lamarie Austin-Stripling from replacing Commissioner Chris Measmer, who was named to fill a state Senate vacancy. The suit says a fast vote on April 10 broke state law and asks the court to cancel the appointment and cover attorney fees. Independent Tribune
